Eva Dator

Eva is a very talented individual, she is a published poet and she sketches, she creates exciting "culinary fusions", plays the guitar, sings...and she creates photographs. I guess we can say it runs in the family(just plugging myself here too..), but joking aside a published author, an award winning designer a noted artistic photographer and a recording artist...in the Dator family I guess it can be a fair claim.

Being diversed is not always a good thing, most would say spreading yourself too thin would end up with compromised quality. Eva however puts out truly remarkable artwork in every form, in her poems that have been published nationally, her true to life sketches, her amazing culinary creations and her beautiful photographs. I guess it all depends on the artist, since Eva has proven this saying wrong. She is a fast learner, 2 years ago(Feb ' 06)I started getting involved in photography and about 6 months later Eva followed my steps in this artform. I mean she literally followed my steps, learning on her own with very little guidance she has images that rivals mine. I am amazed on how good she became in just over a year in this craft, her images can be put side by side to my images that has already been published in tourism materials. I am grooming her to become even better, to be able to share my knowledge and see her improve and be a recognized photographer on her own would be a great accomplishment.

Her love of art is just natural, since seeing cousins, brother and uncles and even our dad being always creative makes it almost in-voluntary to be an artist as well. But just to love it is not enough, to try and create art is also still not enough. For someone to be a true artist one must be born with the talent to be one, to actually have the understanding, the concept, the vision, for this is not taught in schools for it has to be in you to begin with. An artist can adapt to any medium, he or she may not be great in everything but he/she will still none the less stand out from a crowd. For Eva adapting to a few different forms seems so seamless, effortless, she retains knowledge so easily that she goes through a different artistic medium to the next like she really knows what she's doing, and in the finished work it does show.

She is hoping to be in Brazil in about 5 years, I know that she will be the best in the field she chooses to be in. With the talent and passion she has on everything artistic, her journey is just starting, everyone brace yourself for a long ride ahead.

This site is a mere taste of this truly versatile artist, her poems, photographs and her collaboration with Nicole Elias in the kitchen will be featured as-well. I have to stress that her cooking is probably her strongest artistic talent, with some really off the book recipes, or should I say experiments...since she keeps these mixtures and "recipes" in her head, nothing written. I guess cooking came natural since she loves to eat, who doesn't??  To talk about food here and show food photos wouldn't do it justice, since the mouth watering smell and the mesmerizing flavors simply can't be relayed through here. Her other artworks will be shared here, to expose her work to people all over the world, that her masterpieces are truly remarkable.

Now I truly stand my ground that art is truly a talent and not some skill you learn along the way, you can go to school all you want in photography, in cooking, in anything, if you just don't have that talent you will never be a true artist. For art is not measured by technicalities but only in sheer beauty, art can not be quantified for there's no set number that totals to perfection.
